  • Women from A Coruña fought from different fronts to cut down the distance that separated them from men in the fields of employment, wage and politics throughout the first third of the twentieth century. Throughout the pages of this book we can find numerous examples of this struggle, almost silent at times, but also loud and combative, and that allow to complement and clarify the most panoramic views, developed by other historians.

This study tackles issues related to associations that women from A Coruña constituted since the late nineteenth century until 1936, focused on two distinct areas: the activity of proletarian women and that of bourgeois women, the first one in the field of labour and union organization, and the second one in the field of a more political and charitable- cultural type, focused on the associations of progressive nature.

The documentary sources consulted respond to two types: the press of time and the batches of archives.

Work of great interest since it focuses on the spread of knowledge of femininine associations, which contributed so much to economic and social development, and that they were not presented due care and research. Of great value in programmes and courses related to the woman that the Deputación has carried out, and particularly for collaborations that this entity makes dissemination campaigns of knowledge of feminine activity.
