''A todos os homes e mulheres que onde'' ''quer luitárom,''
''morrerom, e luitam pola liberdade e a'' ''dignidade''
    ''dos assovalhados''.

There are, in the tales of dusk, light and shadows, an unsatisfied desire for freedom and a vital theory of resistance, where it may be, Chile, Argentina, Spain, ..., in the quest for release of men and of peoples, ideas and behaviours. Then, the characters exceed their peripety and are projected into the world of symbols and myths, which is the world in which literature achieves its best, or only goals.
That territory that we reduce to the dream that is taken is also the territory where words are formed. Words such as homeland, nation, village, and, ultimately, outskirts, place, neighbourhood, in short, Monte Outo, as the narrator’s own place, transcended to its vocation of myth.
So, we all live on Monte Outo de Corral and we all continue to live in this territory of dream that we carry with ourselves; from the neighborhood where, a few years ago, we played tip-cat. Thanks Corral.

    From the prologue.
